If you are curious about juice but hesitant to go out and spend money on a juicer, this recipe allows you to enjoy a delicious, healthy juice at home without having to purchase another kitchen appliance. To make juice without a juicer, all you need is a blender, fine mesh strainer, and a nut milk bag or cheesecloth. I find that this Blender Green Juice Recipe turns out just as smooth and delicious as one made with a juicer.

Green juice might be an acquired taste, but the benefits of this beverage are powerful. Here is a look at the ingredients along with some quick nutrition facts.

GREEN JUICE INGREDIENTS

Cucumber has high water content, making this green juice very hydrating. Cucumber is high in vitamin K and contains vitamins C and B, along with minerals such as phosphorus, copper, potassium, and magnesium.

Celery is high in antioxidants and is a good source of potassium as well as vitamins A, C, K, and folate.

Kale is a dark leafy green that is packed with vitamins and minerals. It contains vitamins A, C, K, and Folate. On the mineral side, kale contains phosphorus, potassium, calcium, and zinc.

Cilantro + Parsley are amazing herbs that are often used medicinally. They contain vitamins A & C, and minerals such as folate, potassium, and manganese.

Lemon is extremely high in vitamin C which is wonderful for immune health.

Apple is added for a little sweetness to help cut the greens. Apples contain vitamin C, vitamin K, potassium, manganese, and copper.

Ginger adds a nice kick to this green juice. It contains vitamin C, and B vitamins thiamine, riboflavin, and niacin. It is wonderful for digestion and reduces inflammation.

CAN YOU MAKE GREEN JUICE IN A BLENDER?

Yes, making green juice in a blender is a wonderful alternative if you don’t have a juicer.

First, prepare the produce by washing and cutting off any less desirable parts like the ends of your produce and any parts that may be past their prime. In this juice, I include the stems of the kale, cilantro, and parsley. Cut all the ingredients into medium-sized chunks and toss them in the blender. You might have to blend in batches depending on how large your pitcher is.

Blend everything until it looks like green algae (yuck!) No need to worry though- all of the fiber will separate from the liquid after a few rounds of straining, and you will be left with a pure liquid green beverage.

After you finish blending, pour the mixture over a fine-mesh strainer that's resting over a large bowl. You might have to help this process along by agitating the contents in the strainer with a  spoon and stirring it. After the straining slows down and a good amount of liquid has been strained, transfer the remaining fiber to a nut milk bag or a cheesecloth. Use your hands to squeeze the pulp/fiber and get as much juice out as you can. When you get to the point where the fiber inside the bag or cloth is pretty dry, you should be finished. Throw the fiber into the compost so it can go back into the earth.

Pour your juice over ice or enjoy it on its own. You can also store the juice in an airtight jar in the fridge for a couple of days!

what do you do with the leftover pulp?

I feed my extra pulp to my compost. It’s a great way to put all the leftover nutrients back into the earth. However if you don’t compost, you can put your leftover pulp in the trash. There are some recipes out there, but I’ve not tested them out  yet.

It is one of my favorite recipes and something I enjoy drinking now and then when I need a pick-me-up! Enjoy!
